What's happening in Children's Ministry-January 2010
Boy Scout Sunday
We are looking for
Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts to usher on Sunday, February 7. Scouts
will serve as ushers at all four services to commemorate the 100th anniversary
of the founding of Boy Scouts of America in February of 1910. Scouts who wish to
volunteer may sign up in the narthex on the Children’s Ministry bulletin board
or contact Diane Thomas at church, 770 963-4499.
Children’s Choir Sings
The children’s
choir will make their 2010 debut on February 21 at the 10:00 service. They will
sing at the prelude. Choir members should meet in classroom No. 3 in the
education wing at 9:45. children should wear their Friends of Faith t-shirt or
plain white shirt and denim.
Friends of Faith
Our Wednesday evening children’s program starts back up on January 6 at 5:30. This 12-week program for children ages four through fifth grade features Bible study, choir, crafts, and dinner each week. Children learn of God’s great love and experience the joy of building friendships. If you would like to enroll in Friends of Faith this semester, please contact Diane Thomas at church 770 963-4499. There is a dinner fee of $30 with a family maximum of $80. Scholarship funds are available.
Sunday School
Sunday school resumes on January 10. Classes are offered for four-year-olds through middle school at 9:00. At 10:00 we have classes for preschool, elementary and high school students. A monthly class for toddler and parents is offered the first Sunday of the month at 9:00. Drop in and see what we have to offer on Sunday mornings.
Family Fun Night
Get ready for a
great time at this year’s Family Fun Night on Friday, February 5, at 6:00. Bring
the whole gang for dinner, fun family activities and a movie. The fellowship is
great and the cost is cheap! Sponsored by the Friends of Faith program, F.O.F.
families get in free and others pay only $5 per family. Bring your friends and
neighbors to this year’s event to introduce them to Christ the Lord. Sign up to
attend at the Children’s Ministry office in the education wing. Join us for this
evening of family fun.
Vacation Bible school
Vacation Bible school will be held June 7 through 11, 2010. Plan ahead.
Pre-Teen Mission Camp
Our preteen mission camp will return this year for rising 5th, 6th, and 7th graders during the week of June 21. Mark your calendars and join us for the fun.
Bible Bookmarks Return - October 4
The
Bible reading program for children through the sixth grade begins on Sunday,
October 4. Children will each receive a bookmark with a listing of Bible verses
to read. After the verses are read, children can bring the completed bookmark to
the Children’s Ministry office for a prize and new bookmark. We have had
numerous dedicated Bible readers over the past few years and hope to see many
new readers this year.
Calling All Second Graders
The
congregation presented Bibles to all second grade students on Sunday, September
20. What a very special occasion it is when a child receives their first
Bible. The scripture will become a valuable gift for these children on their
journey of faith. If you have a second grade student, please contact the church
office, Diane Thomas, or sign up in the narthex. Bibles were presented at all four
services on September 20.
The FROGS (Families Relying On God and Socializing for families with children up to five years old) are so happy that it is a Leap Year. This is the year we plan to make great leaps forward. We now have a Yahoo group and are looking to expanding our lily pad. If you are not on our Yahoo group, you will be receiving a message soon. We hope that you will take advantage of this. This is a great tool for us to stay in-touch with each other and share news. A quarterly newsletter has already gone out. Copies of it are available at church. The newsletter contains birth announcements, birthdays, prayer list, and upcoming events.

Kids Clothes Swap
Attention all families — CLEAN OUT THAT CLOSET! Mom’s that have come across gently used children’s items, (skates, clothes, shoes, etc.) that they can no longer bear to see their child wear, just one more time, and would like to sell them to other families at church — well here is your chance.
In the children’s education wing past the nursery is a bulletin board just for those items. Fill out an index card with your information and hang it on the board. Check weekly to see if you find anything you need! Remember if you would not buy it don’t try and sell it!
