Fellowship and Neighborhood Groups

Gather with old friends and make some new ones as you enjoy fun, food, and faith sharing with these fellowship groups and events. Check out these upcoming events, and check back regularly, as activities are constantly popping up!

The Tuesday Book Club will meet on July 13 at 6:30 p.m. at the Atlanta Bread Company near Mall of Georgia. They will be reading Sisterchicks say Ooh-la-la by Robin Jones Gunn. For more information about this group, Contact Kay Jarrett via tuesdaybook@christthelordlutheran.org for more information.

The Thursday Book Club will meet on July 8, at 7:00 p.m. at Panera near the church on Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road. They will be reading Sisterchicks say Ooh-la-la by Robin Jones Gunn. Contact Kathy Friton via thursdaybook@christthelordlutheran.org for more information.

Connecting families with small children ages 0-5, this group meets monthly. Group members sponsor events throughout the year including family and adult outings at the church and in the surrounding areas. FROGS also sponsors the annual Easter Egg Hunt and Birthday Party for Jesus.

Good food and good conversation?

If you answered, “YES” to any or all of those questions, CTL Dinner Club may be for you! Once a month, we gather in small groups (8 to 12 people) to share a meal and get to know each other. The host/hostesses sets the menu and each guest brings an item to accompany the meal (side dish, dessert, beverage). Or sometimes a group will meet at a restaurant or a park. This is open to singles, couples, families, everyone!

The Dinner Club will have dinner out on Saturday, July 24, at 6:30 p.m. at Papi’s Cuban and Caribbean Grill in Lawrenceville (www.papisgrill.com), 911 Duluth Highway (Publix shopping center near the church). Papi’s is a new Cuban/Caribbean restaurant in Lawrenceville we thought would be fun to try out! Wear your favorite “island” inspired apparel (optional) and come enjoy an evening of good food and fellowship. To RSVP contact Gayle Summerville at by July 21.

There are NO boring Senior citizens at Christ the Lord -- this group knows how to have a good time! Meeting once a month, they enjoy exciting outings and each other. This picture is from their Christmas celebration during which they decorate the church and enjoy a dinner together - an activity they enjoy every year. And we all get to enjoy the beautifully decorated church.

July 2010 Event: The Golden and Silver Fellowship dinner will be held at the LongHorn Steakhouse restaurant located in Lawrenceville near our church on Saturday, July 17, at 6 p.m. The Golden and Silver group would like to extend a warm invitation to the 50 plus group to join in the fun and fellowship at the LongHorn restaurant. This group is for people age 50 or better that enjoy dining out, playing games at church, potlucks, plays, and trips to area attractions.

Cross stitch, needlework, stained glass, knitting, scrapbooking, quilting, beading, and much more – these are a few of the crafts currently being worked on in Craft Club.

Our craft group meets regularly, allowing members to enjoy conversation, share ideas and work on your craft. Members enjoy quilting, cross-stitch, crochet, or bring your own favorite craft to work on and share. We are also working on a hand stitched kneeler to use during Advent and Lenten services.

Most months we meet on the first and third Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. in classroom 6. During July, we will meet on the 7th and 21st. Bring your current project or come learn something new with a fun group of people. Everyone is welcome.

If you have ever wondered if you have the ability to draw or paint, we encourage you to come find out!

Bobby Yeargin is giving free, informal instruction on how to draw and/or paint. Newcomers are welcome to join us at any time. All beginner supplies will be provided (pencil, eraser and sketch paper).

We now meet on the second and fourth Saturday of each month, in the fellowship hall from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. In July, we will meet on the 12th and 26th.

First Place, a Christ-centered weight loss group will begin meeting again on Tuesday, May 11, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Orientation for new members will be Tuesday, May 4, at 6:30. They will meet in classroom 6. For anyone interested in a Bible study that will meet your spiritual, emotional, mental and physical needs with weight loss as a bonus, this is the group for you.

The cost for new members is $110 for the member’s kit which includes: Member’s Guide, Choosing to Change by Carol Lewis, 13-Commitment Records, Four Motivational Cassettes, Prayer Journal, Walking in the Word Scripture Memory Verses and a 10-week Bible Study. Ladies Night Out - Our ladies enjoy the fellowship of one another over a restaurant meal. No dishes, no husbands, no kids - who could ask for anything more! Watch this website and the bulletin for upcoming events.

What fun to enjoy food and fellowship with friends outside of church! We learn a lot about each other when we get together and maybe more than we should, but that’s what makes it so fun. It’s a God thing; we are forgiven. Maybe more guys can make it the next time we get out!
