Angel Food Ministries, an organization dedicated to providing affordable, high-quality food to those in need and to all of us wishing to be good stewards of God’s blessings, has begun at Christ the Lord Lutheran Church. In response to current economic conditions, we recognize a need for quality, affordable food for all. Angel Food provides individuals and families with fresh, brand name food for a fraction of the retail price. By purchasing food in bulk, directly from some of the top suppliers in the country, food is discounted by up to 60 percent of retail. A standard medium-sized box of food that can meet the needs of a family of four for a week, can be purchased for $30, and contains top quality food staples from every food group, including chicken or beef, milk, eggs, vegetables and fruits. The menu selections vary each month and consist of both fresh and frozen items. Angel Food Ministries’ service is available to anyone. There are no income requirements. There are no limits to the quantity of boxes per individual, nor are there any applications or qualifications for eligibility. Please check out the March menu offerings by clicking the link below. This will take you to the Angel Food Ministry where you can order on-line. The next pickup here at Christ the Lord will be from 8 until 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 17. You may either order boxes for yourself, your family or to donate to someone else. Any orders not picked up will be donated to the Lawrenceville Food Coop or you may indicate on the order page that that is where you wish for your order to go. This is a monthly program. If you would like to become involved and volunteer to help, please contact Barry Kyrklund via info@christthelordlutheran.org . My hope is to get enough volunteers so that no one would have to work more than one Saturday per year unless they wish to. Barry Kyrklund Please click the link below which will direct you to the Angel Food ministries website to order discounted food boxes and view delivery dates. http://www.angelfoodministries.com/host.asp?id=13592>Order Online Calling all softball players. Yes, we were able to field 2 teams this year, and on one Sunday, they played against each other! We just knew CTL would win that day! Please sign up in the narthex at church or call Brett Swartz if you are interested in playing this year. Job Networking on TuesdayIf you find yourself among the ranks of the unemployed, are looking for a job, or have decided to return to work after taking a career break, then join the new Jobseekers Network right here at Christ the Lord every Tuesday at noon. Meetings are held in the fellowship hall and are formatted to allow for sharing job leads and other networking opportunities, to provide a forum to ask and answer questions about challenges and job searching techniques, to offer much-need moral support, and they also include a mini “how to” workshop each week. The sessions are concluded with a short, inspiring service led by Pastor Bob in the sanctuary. Future workshop topics include the job search cold call, interviewing tips and techniques, resume formatting and keywords, cover letters, elevator pitches, and more. Each week, attendees have an opportunity to participate in a resume swap where other participants take the time to offer short critiques and suggestions for improvement. The meeting is always open to individuals who are seeking candidates for opened positions as well. If you have a position that you would like the group to know about or if you want to know if someone in the group is looking for work that you have to offer, please send the information to jobseekers@christthelord.com. If you are unable to attend, you can still have access to some of the job search tools that are provided each week and receive emails of job opportunities. Find us online at Google Groups: http://groups.google.com/group/ctl-jobseekers. See you on Tuesday! Care TeamThe CARE Team is looking for volunteers from the congregation to serve as “contacts” with our growing number of sick and/or shut-in members. A contact person can make phone calls, write letters, visit or pray for the other person. If you feel called to this kind of caring ministry, please let Pastor Julie or another member of the CARE Team know. In serving others, you will be richly blessed! For more information, see Pastor Julie or pastorjulie@christthelordlutheran.org .
