"Smoke on the Mountain"

"Smoke on the Mountain" ...

... was a huge success!  Thanks to our great audiences and support from the church members and community, we had 3 awesome performances and everyone had a fun time!

Mother/Daughter

Saturday, May 17, 2008 – save the date!

This year’s Mother-Daughter Lunch on Saturday, May 17, is about praying with your feet. Come and find out who prayed with their feet and how they did it. Come find out how you can praise the Lord and be a strong woman of faith. We will have a great lunch, wonderful entertainment and terrific prizes! Wear you craziest socks and or shoes! Come and have a terrific time! All ladies are welcome! Any questions or suggestions, contact Victoria Leech via the church office.

Grads Honored

All high school graduates are invited to church on May 18, when we will take time to honor them and give thanks for all they have meant to their families and to us. We also invite their parents to join them, as they will be part of the ceremony. This is part of our stepping stone program as we intentionally mark the moments of our youth’s lives from baptism to graduation.

Vacation Bible School

Christ the Lord invites all children ages four through rising sixth graders to join us at SonWorld Adventure Park VBS. We are looking forward to a vacation Bible school your children will never forget. At SonWorld Adventure Park your kids will have a fun and thrilling ride with Jesus! Children will have a great time singing, watching skits, creating crafts and playing games. Vacation Bible school begins Monday, June 9, and continues through Friday, June 13, from 9 a.m. to noon. Register for VBS in the narthex or click a link below:

Please click here for a printable form in pdf format.  Please mail, or drop off, this form to Ms. Diane at the church.

CTL Men's Softball Team

The CTL Men's Softball Team started off the season with a 16 to 9 win over the Community of Grace team from Grayson. Four new members of the team helped us field a 10-man team. We played at the Smoke Rise Baptist Church in Stone Mountain. Fun was had by all, and the new fields we play at were in great shape. We play one game every Sunday starting after Easter through Fathers Day. Please contact Brett Swartz if you are interested in joining the team. The cost is only $30 per season.

Women’s retreat

Ladies of the congregation: Mark your calendars!

The dates for the Fall Women’s Retreat are Friday, September 25, through Sunday, September 27, at Unicoi State Park in the beautiful North Georgia mountains. You will not want to miss out on a weekend of fellowship and spiritual growth (Did we mention no men or small children?)

Lutheranch

One of the finest ministries we provide to children and families in the Church is Christian outdoor ministries. Since the ministries of Lutheridge and Lutherock have served the Southeast for more than 50 years, our camps have provided settings where Christ's love has been shared, where faith has been nurtured and where lives of children and families have been strengthened in faith.

Lutheridge+Lutherock now need our help to continue the vision of the founders and extend this ministry to include a new ministry site in The Southeastern Synod. A special project has been undertaken across our synod to acquire this property, Lutheranch, that will serve people of all ages. In addition, this effort will also provide funding to complete needed improvements at both Lutheridge and Lutherock.

During the month of April and May, you will learn more about this important effort, called Foundations For Faith - The Challenge, to expand Christian outdoor ministries and to open more doors for ministry in the future.  We pray that your commitment to ministry will encourage you to become involved.

Please click here for more information on Lutheran Outdoor ministries.

The website for Lutheridge is  http://www.llmi.net/4/

For information on our congregations efforts to support Christian Outdoor ministries, please contact Lisa Casteel via lutheranch@christthelordlutheran.org .
