The Lawrenceville Co-Op provides food and emergency
financial assistance (primarily for help with utilities and prescription
medications) to those in need within Lawrenceville and Dacula. During
2009, the Co-Op is helping an average of more than 1,000 families each
month. This ministry is shared by about 30 local area Christian
congregations. Over 50 area congregations offer some support to
the ministry.
HOW YOU CAN HELP:
(1) DONATE
FOOD: The current economic difficulties have resulted in decreased
food donations to the Co-Op. If you are able to do so, please consider
including some purchases for the Co-Op each time you do your own grocery
shopping. Bring your donations to church on any Sunday and place them in
the specially marked bins in the narthex. The following food items are
always needed:
Canned
fruit Beans
Canned
meats Stews
Cereal and
oatmeal Toilet paper
Rice and
potatoes Personal care items
(2) VOLUNTEER YOUR
TIME: Tasks done by volunteers include sorting food, stocking pantry
shelves, interviewing walk-in clients to assess needs, distributing
food, and general office support. You can learn more about these
opportunities at the volunteer orientation sessions, held periodically
at the Co-Op (176 Church Street, near the Lawrenceville City Hall).
Please check the website listed below for orientation dates.
(3) GIVE FINANCIAL
SUPPORT: Contributions designated for the Co-Op may be placed in the
offering plate at Christ the Lord on any Sunday.

CTL Fall Festival

We will again be collecting food for the Co-op during our
annual CTL Fall Festival on October
24th. And don't miss the Cool Car Cruise-In where you can vote for
your favorite car by donating to the co-op.
Christ the Lord is
one of 56 Atlanta-area congregations that provided some form of support for the
Co-Op last year. Some churches made financial contributions, several donated
items for the food pantry, and some volunteered their time. At Christ the Lord,
we did all three: we donated nearly 17,000 cans of food, $14,950 in financial
support, and 21 of our members volunteered for a total of 835 hours. Among area
churches, we were the fourth largest contributor in each of those categories.
Thank you!
